Philadelphia-based artist, DeShawn Timothy, has released independent music for the past two decades. Trailblazing with unconventional rhymes and memorable performances, DeShawn Timothy first entered the underground music scene as a member of the queer hip-hop act Sgt. Sass in 2007. After the group’s disbandment, DeShawn Timothy continued to advance his artistry with stylish songs, putting a revitalized stamp on rap music.

Since 2020, DeShawn Timothy has worked as Voix in the Dark (pronounced as ‘Voice in the Dark’), a minimal electronic music project that conjures inspiration from electroclash, electronic body music, and hip-hop genres. With Voix in the Dark, DeShawn Timothy aims to encapsulate the essence of the dark underground dance music of yesteryear. Having an affinity for multimedia art forms, DeShawn Timothy has incorporated his writing, photography, graphic design, and video production skills into all music projects. – (2024)
